Bear Lake, Idaho - Part 3

As mentioned in previous posts, I'm in Utah and Idaho to attend my wife's family reunion.  The reunion was held in beautiful Bear Lake, Idaho.

During the time we spent there, we had tons of fun.  The way that reunions are supposed to be, right? We decided to hold Cupcake Wars! This is a Food Network TV show - something we tried at my family's reunion last year - and it was a big hit.

We divided the family into three teams.  We had the three oldest grandkids each lead a team - and I was really impressed with their ideas! Here are the three teams at the end of the competition.  We awarded Best Tasting, Most Creative and Best Presentation:

My wife's siblings both attended the University of Utah.  I, as you well know, attended BYU.  There is a healthy rivalry between these two schools.  We wanted to prove that everyone can coexist in peace..even hated college rivals:

The two youngest girls actually played well together.  They found common ground with Disney's Doc McStuffins...and traded little books back and forth.  It was adorable...

My wife entertained the kids with a cool activity called "Pearler Beads". These are fuseable beads that the kids lay out in patterns.  Then, you use a hot iron to fuse them together.  The kids l-o-v-e-d it and my sweet wife kept them entertained for hours:

The cabin also had a sweet foosball table - which also entertained the boys.  They picked up some sweet moves and had a lot of fun together:

It's dangerous to fall asleep around these guys.  My poor father-in-law made that mistake, and paid for it when the three siblings decided to take this picture:

Later that day, Grandpa took us for a ride on a Rhino - an off-road vehicle that the cabin owners use to get around the mountain area in Bear Lake:

The next day, we cleaned up the cabin and headed back south...alas, the reunion was officially over.  We decided to stop in Logan on the way back and had to taste some of the famous Aggie Ice Cream at Utah State University.  While there, we caught up with my cousin's daughter, a delightful young woman who got married last year.  We haven't seen her in a while and just love talking with her.  We didn't have to twist her arm to hard, for her to join us for ice cream:

We finished our visit with lunch at the Juniper Restaurant.  They had delicious homestyle food.  The best part? The giant fresh rolls, complete with honey butter:
