San Francisco - GDC

This week, my friends, I'm in San Francisco. I'm here to attend the annual Game Developers Conference. This is the biggest gathering of people involved in making games, for the entire year. Thousands of programmers, artists, producers and studio execs are gathered in one place. It's a great conference.

The conference takes place at the Moscone Center. Right next to it are the Yerba Buena Gardens. With the beautiful weather here in California, it was fun to take the "long" way to the conference center:

Before the show starts tomorrow, my company held a press conference - specifically to talk about the work that my organization does. We work with all of the game developers around the world and we haven't done a good job of explaining that to the press. This was also our chance to unveil a new marketing campaign aimed directly at gamers.

From my perspective, the event went really well. After the formal press conference, we invited the reporters and game developers to a little cocktail party.

Of course we had the latest video games to play...

One of the best parts of the party was a little "pasta bar" that we provided for the guests. We had a chef make custom pasta dishes for everyone - you choose all the components and he would make it right in front of you. It was glorious...

Over the next three days, the official conference will be simply a series of meetings that will take place from 10am until 6pm. We'll be meeting with as many game developers as possible. In the evenings, it's all about receptions and dinners with various game developers, to further strengthen the relationships that we have in the industry. Tough work, but someone has to do it ; )
