Here's another unusual post for this blog. It's not that I'm running out of cities that I've visited...trust me.
Today, I wanted to show some of the "treasures" that I've collected through my travels. The form that these treasures take is....toys. Action figures, to be specific - however, I don't exclude other toys. Some would say "arrested development"...others say "matches his emotional maturity"...and still others say "he's spent too much time in front of a computer monitor - the radiation has finally got to him". They would all be right - except that last one. I've collected interesting figures from all over the world. Most of them come from the U.S., but Japan has been one of the BEST places to acquire the figures.

These - my dear friends - are some snapshots from my office at work:

But wait, there's more...
You're going to have to enlarge the picture to get the full effect...
The tower of Mr. Potato Head figures
My Star Wars "Galactic Heroes" collection....
Just a portion of the Star Wars wall...
The figures that I love to collect, come from my fascination with pop culture. Cartoons, comic books, movies, TV shows, the Book of Mormon, musicians, video games...I have figures from every single one of these categories. Japan has some of the most interesting figures - it's just a larger part of the culture than anywhere else. There are plenty of anime and manga characters to use. Don't even get me started on Japanese killer robots. In fact, I've found figures there based on American breakfast cereals ; )
The sad/interesting thing is that this is my second collection. The first was destroyed in a horrible accident at a storage facility. However, as you can clearly see from these pictures, the collection has bounced back.
I honestly have run out of room in my office. I've tried to be creative by using baby food jar shelves, to get more figures in the space I have. I don't think I can ask AMD to build more shelves into my office...can I?
One other note - my wife is an enabler. I'm usually the one that says "I don't need any more...I don't want to spend any more money..." and she laughs at my lame attempts to stop. It's a nice relationship ; )
My office is an official part of the tour of our building....all new employees are brought to my door - to marvel at the spectacle. I insist that working with video games should be a CREATIVE process. The various colors and sizes of the figures make me feel more creative. Others simply call it a distraction.
Now you know just a little more about Diggity....

I've seen it and I'm still SPEECHLESS.
I haven't seen it but I am impressed, to say the least!!
You made the official tour of your office, now you need to include your office in "Diggity's Official Tour of Boston" to go along side the lobster tails and Duck Boat rides.
I want to know if you're ever going to let G-man play with them...that is the test of true love (both to the son and the toy)!
Dana - I'm happy to report that G-Man has already been in the office, and demolished one of the shelves. In fact, he took it upon himself to put 5 of them in my office trash ; ) He really likes Daddy's office!
