Moab, Utah

We're on the tail-end of our trip to Utah.  I'm driving back with my family...a first for me...all the way to Texas.  I'm not sure I'll survive.

But first, a couple of items from our last day in the Beehive State.  First, a welcome rainstorm fell across Utah County.  It was warm outside...which prompted me to run out and play in the rain.  I guess I'll never grow up ; )  The best part is that I convinced G-Man and his cousin M to come play along:

We also discovered yet another restaurant to add to our list of favorites in Utah.  It's called Mountain West Burrito - located on the border of Provo and Orem.

Using local ingredients for the tacos, burritos and chimichangas, they make some pretty tasty food.  My wife tried the chimichanga:

A definite "don't miss"

Now, it's time to hit "the road".  I'm not a big fan of extended car rides.  I can spend hours and hours in a plane, but don't have the same comfort level in a car.  Oh, well.  At least it was time spent with the family.

We struck out for southeastern Utah.  Right before we hit Moab, we found Arches National Park.  I can honestly say that this visit alone, was worth the trip ; )

The scenery was incredible.  The rock formations were unique and awe-inspiring.  We made our way to one of the more popular areas...it's called Balanced Rock.  I think you'll understand why:

I still can't believe that giant rock is perched on top of the little rocks.  This next picture shows me, climbing up on the rock...that tiny spec near the base of the formation...

G-Man joined me on the rock ; )

This is an area called The Windows.  This is a shot from a wide angle.  The shot below that should help you understand how big everything is...those little dots are people ; )

I could show many more pictures..but I think you get it ; )  All of the national parks in southern Utah are amazing.  Each for its unique geography and geology - Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands, etc.  I'm glad that we took the time to check this out.

After hours and hours of driving, we came upon a little town called Monticello.  As we were driving through on the state highway, we noticed something amazing.  I totally forgot that there was an LDS temple all the way out there.  So glad that members of the Church in that area have an accessible temple:

It was a smaller temple, but amazing nonetheless...

That's it for now.  We're back on the road again...more pictures coming from the rest of the trip.
