Dear Friends:
It's our second full day at Disneyland. It was time to spend the day at the original part of the park, or the Magic Kingdom. We boarded the famous Disney Monorail, so that the kids could see more of the park as we sailed overhead:
Princess hair is still in full effect....
The Monorail deposited us directly in Tomorrowland. We arrived really early, so we were some of the first to get to Autopia. Usually, the lines for this are incredible long, so we jumped at the chance:
I love this video clip - it shows little L driving the car, while his mother was handling the gas pedal. The movement of the car jostles him around, but he's really committed to handling the car...so cute:
I made the kids pose in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle, as the entrance to Fantasyland. Since it was still a little early, we made our way to some of the popular rides:
One of the kid's favorites was Dumbo the Flying Elephant. We were able to spread the adults out to go with each of the kids:
Since we were so close to the King Arthur Carousel, the kids wanted to go right away. I caught this little moment between G-Man and L, while we were waiting. These are the moments that I love:
At least he tried....
We then wanted the kids to enjoy one of MY favorite rides - It's a Small World. Besides, it was another chance to experience air conditioning ; )
L still had several princesses to meet, so we waiting in line for this encounter. Side note - Merida her deserves a raise, as she had that gown and hair in the 95-degree heat!
Part of MY Disney experience, is looking for new toys to add to my collection. Usually, you can find some interesting things that aren't available anywhere else. In Tomorrowland, there is a shop that's attached to the Star Tours ride. It offered people the chance to assemble their very own Star Wars droids...with a little Disney flavor. At $10 a piece, it was a little expensive for my taste. However, we spent time in the air-conditioned store assembling various Disney droids:
In the pursuit of deliciously unique foods at Disneyland, we made a required stop at the Tiki Room to enjoy Dole Whip. This is a pineapple-flavored concoction that is a favorite of our family:
Nearby is the Tarzan Treehouse. Originally, this was the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse...something that my family always renamed the Swiss Family ROBISON Treehouse, over the years. We still claim it as our own:
We let the kids play in Toon Town for a bit. I loved this picture, taken on a trolley in Toon Town. I can't wait for J to grow-up a little and run around with this crew:
We had dinner at Carthay Circle Restaurant - one of the few high-end restaurants inside the park. I wanted to give the family a really nice dinner, and a chance to relax together:
The food was....AMAZING. I had this stunning pork chop...just thinking about it now - weeks later - my mouth is watering...
It was truly a great meal. The fact that I was able to share it with my favorite people, made it even better. We planned to stay in the park for one of the big night-time shows. With a little time to kill, we headed over to Radiator Springs. When the sun goes down, the turn on all the neon signs - just like in the movie. It's really fun to watch it all come on:
We finished the evening at Paradise Pier, to watch the big "World of Color" show...it was wonderful. With huge fountains of water, there were video clips shown on top of the water...with fireworks and flames shooting into the air. The kids loved it, even though it was a little late for them:
Yet another wonderful day came to a close. The kids fell asleep almost instantly...and it didn't take the parents too long, either ; )
